May 2005 ; - 053-2386
After successful completion of Test #2 to a pressure of 630 psi, this test sample was loaded in 50
pounds per square inch (psi) increments over a 4.5-hour period until the target pressure of 670 psi was
reached. The full load of 670 psi was maintained for 24 hours. Following completion of the 24-hour
period, the load was released and the sample disassembled. The geosynthetic membrane was
inspected and tested for punctures both visually and by applying a vacuum to the geomembrane.
Liner load test results for this configuration are included in Appendix B-3. Test results are discussed
in Section 5.
4.4 Test #4 - Phases I and II OSA Liner System
The test sample was assembled using approximately four inches of SLF in the bottom of the cell,
compacted to a target density of 95 percent of the maximum standard Proctor dry density at plus or
minus two percent of the optimum moisture content. The maximum standard Proctor density for the
soil is 116.0 pounds per cubic foot (pcf) with optimum moisture content of 12.2 percent. The SLF
was compacted to a dry density of 95 percent at a moisture content of 13.0 percent. Next, a 12-inch
diameter piece of 80-mil single-sided textured VLDPE geomembrane was placed on top of the SLF
material, textured side down. Finally, the DCF material was placed on top of the liner to a thickness
of approximately 8.7 inches. The thickness of SLF and DCF placed in the load. cell is not
representative of field conditions due to the small size of the testing apparatus.
The test sample Nvas loaded in 50 pounds per square inch (psi) increments over a 25-hour period until
the target pressure of 670 psi was reached. The full load of 670 psi was maintained for 50 hours.
Following completion of the 50-hour period, the load was released and the sample disassembled. The
geosynthetic membrane was inspected and tested for punctwres both visually and by applying a
vacuum to the geomembrane. Liner load test results for this configuration Ee included in
Appendix B-4. Test results are discussed in Section 5.
/--N

naaooea? Golder Associates
