Kink band failure. The east wall is the highest wall in the present mine plan, and also needs to <br />be the steepest for economic reasons. While the block-size of the rockmass in the wall is not <br />particularly small, it is small when compared with the size of the wall. Accordingly, it is also <br />possible for overall wall failure to occur on the east wall as a result of the development of a <br />"kink band" along a potential zone of failure. Such a failure could weaken the slope, creating <br />conditions where translational failure of the slope could occur. <br />• <br /> <br />1385D.980612 28 <br />
