1 ~ Main project area hydrologic conditions <br />As a result of that development, most of the bedrock underlying the proposed MLE is <br />unsaturated down to approximately 7,200 feet amsl, and does not contain significant <br />quantities of groundwater. <br />3.3 Hydrologic monitoring program <br />The hydrologic monitoring program at CC&V includes surface and groundwater data <br />collection. The following sections provide summaries of monitoring data that have been <br />collected through January 2008. Samples were collected on a quarterly basis at most <br />locations, although more frequent sampling has occurred at some locations as part of <br />ongoing hydrological and geochemical baseline studies. Surface water samples and field <br />data were collected by CC&V professional staff. Quality assurance and quality control <br />procedures were included in the sampling and analytical protocols (as part of the <br />certified Environmental Management System at CC&V). All analytical testing was <br />performed by qualified third-party analytical laboratories that participate in external <br />quality assurance and quality control programs. <br />The surface and groundwater monitoring sites are located in seven drainages. <br />• Cripple Creek <br />• Arequa Gulch <br />• Wilson Creek <br />• Poverty Gulch <br />• Squaw Gulch <br />• Vindicator Valley <br />• Gold Run <br />The individual locations for surface and groundwater monitoring are shown on Figure <br />3.1. Statistical summaries of the analytical data for each drainage are provided in <br />Attachment A. The period of record for each monitoring location are provided in tables <br />for the individual drainage (Attachment A). <br />3.4 Cripple Creek <br />Current Conditions <br />The Cripple Creek drainage and the MLE permit boundary are shown on Figure 3.1. <br />Cripple Creek is a south- to southwest-oriented drainage that lies outside the diatreme <br />boundary. Cripple Creek has four contributing tributaries from the Cresson Project area: <br />Poverty Gulch, Gold Run, Squaw Gulch, and Arequa Gulch. These drainage basins are <br />outlined on Figure 3.1. Cripple Creek flows to its confluence with Fourmile Creek, <br />approximately six miles southwest of the City of Victor, Colorado. <br />Historical mine features and other facilities within the Cripple Creek drainage include: <br />the City of Cripple Creek Municipal Waste Water Treatment Plant, stormwater from the <br />City of Cripple Creek, dewatering activities in the City of Cripple Creek, historical <br />2736 ~ Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company <br />Water Management Consultants <br />
