VERHOEFF PIT # 2
EXHIBIT:
(A) In the areas which have been mined, natural fines will be used to
backfill. A slope 3:1 will be in place according to the reclamation
map. This will be accomplished with afront-end loader which will
also be used for compaction of the fill material to minimize erosion
potential. The depth of the soil is 4 to 6 inches in some areas, less in
others. Every effort will be made to conserve and store topsoil from
the site to ensure a good re-vegetation at the time of reclamation. Any
overburden will be maintained in such a manner as to minimize
erosion potential. Seeding will be implemented on the stockpile if
deemed necessary.
(B) The present vegetation on site will yield enough forage to support
two (2) cows for fifty (50) acres. The reclamation .plan will provide a
range condition which will be at least equal to that which existed
previous to any mining.
(C} The Reclamation Plan will be implemented to meet each applicable
requirements of section 3:1 as to recommendation from the N.R.C.S.
Office.
(D) Refer to (A). The seeding will commence after placing and'
compaction of the overburden soil. The plant variety to be used will
be as the recommendation of the U.S. Soil Conservation Service (dry
land pasture mix), as follows; Smooth brome, Russian Wildrye,
Crested Wheatgrass, Perennial Ryegrass, Orchard grass, Immediate
Wheatgrass, Buffalo Grass, Blue Grama, Sideoats Grama, Western
Wheatgrass, Galleta, Sand Dropseed and Needle and Thread.
(E) As areas of mining are completed, slopes of 3;1 will be established.
Re-seeding can take please on the affected slopes to protect against
erosion. Sites of 10 or more acres will be shaped and re-seeded.
(F) Refer to above statements.
J~
