Hernandez, Daniel
From: Hernandez, Daniel
Sent: Monday, April 07, 2008 9:44 AM
To: Carl Johnston
Cc: Berry, Davicl; Musick, Jason; 'swanstedt@deserado.com'
Subject: Request for Determination of Need for Federal Mine Plan Modifcation
Hi, Carl. Hope things are going well.
Just wanted to inform you that we found Permit Revision PR-06 for Blue Mountain Energy's Deserado Mine
Complete on April 2, 2008. This PR proposes to add 840 acres of new lease area, 80 of which will lie within the
existing approved permit area. These 840 acres are not a new lease, but rather an expansion of existing federal
lease COC-8424.
The PR will add 760 acres of new permit area, and 636.36 acres of new affected area. All of the proposed 636.36
affected-area acres will be "shadow area" (the projection to the surface of underground workings); there are no
surface disturbances pn~posed under this PR.
Attached is a PDF of the application. Also attached is a PDF of "Map 2" that shows the boundaries of Blue
Mountain Energy's leases. The new lease acreage, known as "Tract 3", is described legally as:
Sec 19: E/2 of SE/4, S~'W4 of SE/4
Sec 20: S/2, S/2 of NW/4, and S/2 of N/2 of NW/4
Sec 28: NE/4, N/2 of N1N/4, and N/2 of S/2 of NW/4
T3N, R101 W, 6th PM, Rio Blanco County, Colorado
When you get the chancre, I would appreciate you letting me know whether you believe this revision would require
modification of Blue Mountain Energy's federal mine plan. I will then forward your response to the permittee.
Thanks, and if you need anything else, don't hesitate to ask.
Dan
303-866-4933
4/9/2008
