Box <br />-483, Paonia, CO, 81426, has <br />submitted a complete application <br />for a permit revision to the Division <br />of Reclamation, Mining and Safety <br />for its approved Bowie No. 2 Mine,' <br />mining permit No. C-1996-083. The <br />;proposed revision will amend the B- <br />Seam mine plan. The approved mine <br />.plan has longwall panels oriented in <br />an east west direction. The new mine . <br />,plan rotates the panels 90 degrees, <br />to a north south direction. The mine <br />plan change is necessary because of <br />'difficult mining conditions experienced <br />while developing the 1 East Mains. <br />The northern extension of the mine <br />plan will move into a proposed <br />Federal coal lease modification area. <br />Panels are projected under Dove <br />Gulch and Dove Cave, The extent of <br />subsidence from the proposed panels <br />comes within about one quarter mile <br />of the Bruce Park Dam and about 750 <br />feet of Terror Creek Reservoir. The <br />mine plan does not project mining <br />under Terror' Creek to,the west or"~ <br />_ ,Hubbard Creek to the east. ~ , <br />The mine facilities are located north <br />.of Bowie Road near the town of <br />-Bowie, CO. A pump station, three <br />sediment ponds, unit train loadout <br />'and future coal mine waste disposal <br />site are located south of Bowie Road.. <br />The •Fire Mountain Canal is located <br />south of the mine facilities and north <br />~pf the unit <br />train Idadout. The North Fork of the <br />Gunnison River is located south <br />of the mine permit boundary.
