ii. Sediment and Erosion Prevention
Sediment is the most likely pollutant to be associated with the mine site since the setting will
contain exposed working surfaces. However, multiple best management practices, as described
above will be placed in order to capture run-on and run-off, decrease the water energy, and allow
for sediment settling before any water leaves the site. The bar ditches, berms and containment
basin will collectively contain any site-related stormwater.
iii. Other Pollution Prevention Measures
The mine site will be regularly reviewed and maintained with BEC oversight. The identified
pollution prevention measures described herein capture all those sources identified over time.
However, stormwater conditions will be monitored and if additional measures are needed, BEC is
responsible for identifying the appropriate management practice and submitting all necessary
information for this SWMP.
Preventive Maintenance: Preventative maintenance is achieved with the continuous oversight of
site conditions to assure environmental compliance. BEC personnel have been delegated the
responsibility for these activities and will take an active role with site conditions to assure
environmental protection. A part of the oversight responsibilities will be to review the
preventative maintenance requirements for in-place management practices that control
stormwater. Any management practice that begins to show signs of erosion or failure will be
actively maintained (e.g. the berms or ditches). The integrity of these features will be regularly
monitored as part of the ongoing routine monitoring as required by the mine reclamation permit.
Good Housekeeping: Good housekeeping measures are a necessity for the orderly and safe
activities at the mine. All buildings and structures will be locked. There is only one access road
without a gate and this road has clearly marked `no trespassing' signs to limit activity. There is
no anticipated change to these features. All mobile equipment will be located or parked in
specific areas and any leaks or spills will be cleaned properly. The site will be monitored to
maintain stormwater compliance. BEC personnel will review the housekeeping conditions during
their routine site inspections as part of the stormwater management practice review.
Em~lovee Education: BEC is held responsible for environmental compliance issues surrounding
the mine. BEC personnel are experienced in stormwater management practice, design, and
implementation and will be responsible for oversight of property activities. Stormwater
management practices will be regularly monitored as part of the oversight in order to ensure their
continued maintenance.
Identification of Discharges other than Stormwater: There are no other discharges associated
with the operation of the mine. All water management practices associated with the mine are in
compliance with all components of the Clean Water Act.
Bluerock Energy Corp.
