(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-2007-067
INSPECTION DATE: 7/16/2008 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS THM
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted at the request of the operator to determine that the corrective action described in the
May 19, 2008 inspection report was being conducted properly. Curtis Ryland of Marathon Oil Company was present
during the inspection.
The mine identification sign and the affected area boundary markers are in place and in compliance with rule 3.1.12.
The sign is located on a post at the main entrance on the south side of the gravel mine. The permit boundaries are
comprised of steel pipe that are easily identifiable around the entire perimeter of the mine.
The only activity taking place at the time of the inspection was the relocation of the topsoil to the location described
in the approved Mine Plan. Various pieces of excavation equipment were on site conducting the topsoil relocation.
It appeared that all of the topsoil that was used for a stormwater berm around the entire permit area had been
relocated to the north edge of the permit boundary as indicated on the Mine Plan map. The operation appeared to be
in compliance with the approved Mine Plan.
Various plant species are beginning to get established within the permit boundary. Lupin, a desirable species,
appeared to be the most abundant species to establish at the site. A variety of grasses were also observed around the
edges of the permit area. These grasses are the result of recent hydro-seeding around the permit area.
No problems or possible violations were observed during the July 16, 2008 inspection.
Photos that show the conditions observed during the inspection are included at the end of this report.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Travis Marshall at the Division of Reclamation, Mining
and Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone
no. 970-241-2042.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Curtis Ryland ?
