Goodrich, Gary
From: Carl Poch [cpoch99@yahoo.com]
Sent: Wednesday, July 16, 2008 12:01 PM
To: Goodrich, Gary
Cc: Newcomer, Larry; Mannon, Jane
Subject: RE: Mining from the back?
Thanks Gary, this information allows us to proceed with the original plan to prevent any
mining on those 42 acres. I had thought that there might be an opportunity to negtotiate
but I guess not.
Today's mountain letter follows:
ANTE UP BOYS (and JANE)
Those of us who live in Cripple Creek were excited when we read the front page of last
week's Mountain Jackpot. Jane Mannon from the South African Mine said our property values
would increase when the mine replaced those "nasty" Aspen and Pine trees with grey rock
and an open 800' deep pit.
And then we read that this prediction came from a consultant the mine hired to say exactly
that! It's time to put your money where your mouth is; how about a public challenge?
The mine can offer to compensate those homeowners living within 2000 feet of the mining
activity for the loss in value of their homes. This loss will be determined by the
reduction in Assessor's valuation 2008 to 2012 - fair enough?
Before the mine says they can't afford it, just like they said they couldn't afford mining
from the back half of the 42 acres facing Cripple Creek, take a look at their 2007 annual
report. They list as assets 3.3 million ounces of proven gold in their 5800 acres. At a
current profit of $600 an ounce this is $2 billion dollars of profit from their strip
mining activity.
How about it? Willing to Ante up boys (and Jane)?
Carl Poch 611 E.
