Cattany
g, Director
Natural Resource Trustee
RE: Trapper Mining, Inc., Permit C-81-010
Second Quarter 2008 Discharge Monitoring Reports Review
Dear Mr. Roberts,
The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (CDRMS) has reviewed and found the
above referenced report to be in compliance with Rule 4.05.13(2). The Second Quarter Discharge
Monitoring Reports were received by the Division on 28 July 2008. The reports cover the time period
from 01 April 2008 through 30 June 2008.
Seven NPDES outfalls discharged during the Second Quarter of 2008. Outfalls 001, 002, 011 and 020
discharged throughout the quarter. Outfall 013 discharged part of April and again in May due to
precipitation events in the form of snowmelt. Outfall 014 recorded discharge once during the quarter
due to snowmelt. Outfall 021 discharged due to snowmelt and pit pumping. Outfalls 011, 020, and
021 were sampled for WET analyses during the quarter. No exceedances of WET test limitations were
observed.
It is noted that primary effluent limitations of TSS were exceeded at outfalls 002 and 014 during the
quarter primarily due to winter snowpack melting. Based on a Memorandum of Understanding
between the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety and the Water Quality Control Division
(WQCD), the WQCD will be responsible for enforcing CDPS permit conditions including exceedances
of TSS.
Thank you for the timely submittal.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me.
