The Division of Wildlife is indeed familiar with the property and considers
Mr. Hill a partner in conservation efforts.
Utilization of existing coal bed methane (CBM) well pads and existing access routes will lessen the impact of
exploration and we appreciate those efforts. Removal of cuttings and any waste material or litter is essential
and will undoubtedly be a portion of the agreement with Mr. HIII or the CBM producer. Although development
of these exploration holes appears to have minimal impact due to previous CBM disturbance care must be taken
to lessen further impact.
Please consider the following:
Your letter does not indicate a time frame for this endeavor but hunting seasons will begin in
late August, early September and care should be taken to avoid hunter impact. This too should
be addressed by Hill Ranch agreements. However, if you plan to access the Hill Ranch via the
Bosque del Oso State Wildlife Area time restrictions are in place during hunting season - no
entry before 9,00 AM and exit before 3:00 PM.
¦ involve CDOW personnel early in the project planning phases and use Natural Diversity Information
Source wildlife GI5 data prior to development.
• Apply Seasonal timing to avoid wildlife conflict in accordance with CDOW recommendations,
¦ Use state of the art technology to protect existing vegetation. use of mats if possible for drilling
operations to preserve topsoil and vegetative root stock.
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES, Harris D.
