The AHR was received on January 14, 2008 and contains
water quantity and quality data for the 2006-2007 Water Year. One report is submitted for both
mines since they are in close proximity and the surface water and groundwater monitoring
programs are essentially combined for the two sites.
The frequency of data collection for surface and groundwater is in compliance with the approved
monitoring plan contained in the permit document. All required monitoring data were collected
and reported. There were two discharges from the McClane sediment pond during the water year
and there was no discharge from the Munger sediment pond. Mine inflow water was discharged
from the mine during the water year. Outfall 002A provides for discharge from the underground
mine to East Salt Creek. All discharge monitoring and reporting is done in accordance with the
CDPS Permits for each site.
The Probable Hydrologic Consequences discussion in the permit document and the Division's
previous findings indicate that mine discharge will have a small impact on East Salt Creek. The
AHR states that the mines will have negligible effect upon the hydrologic regime of East Salt
Creek. This appears to be consistent with the data reported in the 2007 AHR. From the
monitoring data provided there also does not appear to be any detectable impact to the East Salt
Creek alluvium.
Please let me know if you have any questions regarding my review of the 2007 AHR for the
McClane and Munger Canyon Mines.
Sincerely,
/
A /
(I CIW R
Michael P.
