This letter is the same as sent July 18, 2008, except that Paragraph 4
has been added at the end of the letter.
1. Monitoring Plan.
a. Baseline time period. We propose monitoring groundwater elevations in the
monitoring wells during the baseline period at least twice per month from the time of
installation until at least December, 2008 (assuming wells get installed in July or
August of this year). Monitoring the wells 2x per month will provide more of a
response to irrigation than monitoring only 1x per month. Monitoring shall include
observations of groundwater levels below the top of casing, the height of the casing
above the ground level, and shall be reported as actual elevations from a bench mark
of known elevation. Additionally, site conditions shall be noted, such as irrigation)
practices, snow cover, snow melt, rainfall, and the condition or operation of nearby
irrigation ditches, e.g., either dry or running water etc.
b. Pit Operation. Water levels in monitoring wells shall be monitored once per month
during any time the pit is actively pumping water from or needing to dewater the'
workings in the pit. Observations shall be recorded on the same log sheets used
during the baseline monitoring.
244 Hutton Ave., Rifle, CO 81650 PH / Fax (970) 625-5433 pcurrier@wrc-Ilc.com
