PROJECT WORK DESCRIPTION
The following tables contain basic information and work descriptions for each of the hazardous
mine openings to be safeguarded in this project and other project work as described. When
reference is given, please refer to the Colorado Inactive Mine Reclamation Program General Bid
Specifications 1996 for details of the Standard Work Specifications (SWS) and Standard Drawing
Descriptions necessary to complete this project.
ITEM 1- MOBILIZATION/DEMOBILIZATION
Mobilization
This task includes moving equipment and supplies to the project area. If desired, the
CONTRACTOR may establish a staging area for the storage of all equipment and supplies. The
area shall be of adequate size to accommodate all of the CONTRACTOR'S vehicles, equipment,
and supplies and shall be approved by the PROJECT MANAGER. The CONTRACTOR shall
minimize impact on the staging area with regard to noise, dust, and fumes. The CONTRACTOR
shall be responsible for maintaining security of the staging area.
This task also includes all labor and costs associated with locating and protecting utilities, both
above ground and underground, at the work site.
The CONTRACTOR shall exercise caution during mobilization, performance of all work tasks, and
demobilization in order to avoid damage to public and private property including, but not limited to,
pavements, soils, vegetation, water supplies, fences, walls, structures, existing sediment ponds,
landscaping etc. The CONTRACTOR shall repair and restore public or private property damaged
during the work at his expense. See also Section 1.0 of the "Standard Work Specifications"
included in CDMG General Bid Specifications, 1996.
Demobilization
This item shall include all labor, equipment, and costs associated with demobilization and clean-up
of the work site to its original or better condition. All equipment and supplies, materials, and debris
related to this project will be removed from the site upon completion. The CONTRACTOR shall also
reclaim any staging area or other ground disturbed during the course of the project located outside
of the project area as defined by this Bid Document. Areas of disturbance will include those areas
compacted as a result from equipment or vehicle traffic. All compacted areas will be ripped to a
minimum depth of 8" on 24" centers. All haul roads will be fully regraded and reclaimed upon
completion of the project. Additional final grading shall be accomplished to reduce any cuts left from
machinery or oversteep slopes within impacted areas, if needed.
The CONTRACTOR shall be fully responsible for any and all damage to property caused by his
equipment or personnel. The CONTRACTOR shall ensure that the job site is restored to original
or better condition and that the PROJECT MANAGER accept that the work is complete. See also
Section 1.0 of the "Standard Work Specifications" included in CDMG General Bid Specifications,
1996.
6
