June 24, 2008
LAKE COUNTY
Public Works
1200 Hazel Street
Leadville, CO 80461
Phone: 719-486-0259
Fax: 719-486-8479
?. '0
? A
A s
Annual Report
Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Re: Permit No.- M-1977-459 -- - - - - - - - -- - -
Lake County Gravel Pit
Anniversary Date: July 8, 2008
Gentlemen;
Enclosed, please find the payment of $791.00 for the annual fee for the above referenced
permit.
The activity in the calendar year 2007 consisted of mining and crushing approximately 7200
tons of road base material during the time period January 1, 2007 to December 31, 2007. The
material mined consisted of taking down material on existing disturbed areas as shown on
enclosed map and cutting down the slope on the south east side of the pit on undisturbed soil.
Approximately 100'x 30' of new area was disturbed. The new area had less than 2" of top soil
material, which was pushed back south and east from disturbed pit area.
Reclamation for the year 2007 consisted of stockpiling existing top soil from the pit area to the
east side of the pit. Also in 2007, we have continued our program of stockpiling top soil from
outside sources, such as new road construction around town in anticipation of future
reclamation work.
New disturbances for the year 2008 include stockpiling all salvageable top soil at the top east
side of the pit in order to maintain and take down the grade of the pit, also to continue to
accumulate top soil from outside sources. It is expected that any new disturbance will be
located in the south east comer of the existing pit area. Production for the calendar year
January 1, 2008 through December 31, 2008 will be between 10,000 and 15,000 tons of road
base material.
Please contact Brad Palmer, Public Works Director at 719-486-0259 should you have any
questions.
Sincerely,
Brad Palmer, irector
Lake County Public Works
