Photo 3, below, was taken in late winter 2007. It shows the closed pond areas and the
test mine pad in the back ground. This photo was taken on the slope opposite the
location of the former test mine ponds in Yankee Gulch looking back up the draw.

In December 2006 the test Disposal cell for test mine solids on ridge - October
2006mine pond area was broad cast seeded with the BLM approved seed mix. There
was approximately one to two inches of snow on the ground when the seed was
distributed. In the spring of 2007 very little plant establishment was observed. A high
volume of seed was observed in the lower part of the draw apparently having been
carried to the bottom with snow melt. Throughout the spring and summer months plant
growth failed to establish.
In November 2007 the area was reclaimed once again this time using drill seeding
technique with a modified seed mix recommended and approved by the BLM. The
reclamation contractor drill seeded the area the first time in a horizontal direction
lengthwise along the disturbed area then made a second pass at a diagonal to the
horizontal line to break up the uniform row appearance of the reclamation. The seed
was applied at a rate of 15 pounds per acre of pure live seed using a no-till drill.
American Soda, L.L.P
DRMS Annual Report
July 10, 2008
Photo 3 - Test mine pond area after excavation, re-contouring, and reseeding.
