• <br />• <br />• <br />Whirlwind Mine <br />30100 5/10 Road <br />Gateway, Colorado 81522 <br />Materials Containment Plan <br />Revision 2 <br />FERRIC SULFATE - 50% SOLUTION <br />Synonyms: Iron sulfate <br />Maximum Quantity On-site: 110 gallons <br />Description: Reddish-brown solution, slight odor <br />Potential Health Hazards <br />• Skin Contact: May cause burns <br />• Eye: May cause burns <br />• Inhalation: May cause irritation of mucous membranes <br />• Ingestion: Severe gastritis with abdominal pain and vomiting beginning 10-60 <br />min. after ingestion. Diarrhea and dehydration. Shock, pallor, <br />cyanosis', and coldness. Rapid, weak pulse, low blood pressure, <br />drowsiness, hyporeflexia, dilated pupils, and coma. <br />• Not a carcino <br />Potential Environmental Hazards <br />• No fire or explosion hazards <br />• Designated as a hazardous material <br />• Highly corrosive <br />Handling <br />• Wear proper PPE including safety glasses, impervious gloves, protective work <br />clothing, and standard site PPE <br />• Use with care <br />First Aid <br />• Eyes: Flush eyes '.with large volumes of water for at least 20 minutes while <br />holding eyelids open. If irritation persists, seek medical attention. <br />• Skin: Remove contaminated clothing immediately. Wash skin with water and <br />soap until no evidence of chemical remains (at least 15-20 minutes). If <br />irritation persists, seek medical attention. <br />• Ingestion: Contact local poison control center or physician immediately. Give <br />large quantities of water or milk, unless unconscious. If vomiting <br />occurs, keep head lower than hips. Loosen tight clothing.
