a
Sara F. Hebbert
3615 CR 137
Westcliffe, CO 81252
Charles Bedford,Director
Colorado State Land Board
1313 Sherman St.,Rm. 620
Denver,CO 80203
Dear Mr. Bedford,
I am writing to ask you to seriously consider the nomination being submitted by the
San Isabel Foundation. Specifically Section 16; T24S; R70W Blue Spring is being nominated
to the Stewardship Trust. Custer County continues down a path of rapid growth, subdivision,
and development. Open space, wildlife habitat and agricultural land are quickly becoming rare
commodities. I represent the fourth generation of our ranching family and realize that with this
level of development our rural culture could easily become threatened and endangered
species. As an agriculturist and conservationist,I know we must take positive steps to ensure a
balance of growth and conservation that rural and urban folks can live with. This Stewardship
Trust will help us take a positive step.
This particular parcel supports a diverse wildlife population, provides an open space
buffer from development, is utilized for livestock grazing, and borders the San Isabel National
Forest. It is very important that this mullet-use piece of ground is protected from encroaching
development and given a fighting chance to remain open and productive for agriculture,
wildlife, and those residents who recognize how truly valuable open spaces are to the quality
of life for all.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Sara F. Hebbert
San Isabel Ranch
