JUL.13 '99 3:25PM DMG,GJCT 1 303 2410336 P.2 <br /> July 13, 1999 <br /> MEMO <br /> TO: Interested Contractors <br /> FROM: Stcve Renner <br /> RE: Amendment No.2;Sunlight Coal Mire Reclaukltion Project(PKA-0-1071) <br /> Thank you for your interest in the Sunlight Coal Mine Reclamation Project A copy of the sign-in sheet is <br /> attached. The following clarifications and amendments should be noted and incorporated into the Bid <br /> docuraenta: <br /> 1. The Bid opening date is July 22, 1999 at 2:10 p.m, <br /> 2. The Time of Completion will be fourteen(14)calendar days. The Project must be Completed prior to <br /> October 8, 1999 in no more than fourteen(14)consecutive working days. CONTRACTOR and <br /> PROJECT MANAGER shall mutually agree upon the start date of construction in order to ensure <br /> that the Project is completed by no later than October 8, 1999. <br /> 3. During construction,it will be necessary to cross the drainage swale located immediately in front <br /> (south)of the collapsed mine entry. Upon completion of construction,the Swale must be rehunod to <br /> its original,pre-construchon condition. <br /> 4. Topsoil to cover the coal rdusc may be generated either by salvaging the soil currently in place at the <br /> disposal area,or by pushing dirt from the hill immediately to the east of the disposal arcs over the coal <br /> waste. A minimum cover of eight inches(8")of soil material must be placed over all of the coal waste <br /> material. If material is excavated from the hill to the east,the excavated area must not be of a lesser <br /> elevation than,the coal waste material. All trees and shrubs must be removed from within the foot <br /> print of the disposal area prior to placement of the coal waste material. Upon completion of topsoil <br /> application operations,the excavated hill to the cast,if disturbed,must be graded so that the <br /> topography matches and blends with the adjacent landforms.The excavated area will be ripped to <br /> minimii soil compaction. The area will be rot see Task 2 <br /> ( ,Topsoil Salvage and Surface <br /> Roughening);and revegetated(Task 4,Revegetation)per specifications. <br /> 5. Note that at the coal waste disposal area and at the hillside to the east,if disturbed,wood free straw <br /> mulch will be applied to the surface of the topsoil immedWcly upon completion of topsoil application <br /> operations. Severe surface roughening,as described in Task 2,Topsoil Salvage and Surface <br /> Roughening;will occur simultaneously with the mulch application so that the mulch is thoroughly <br /> incorporated into the soil. Mulch application and surface roughening will be paid for under Task 2, <br /> Topsoil Salvage and Surface Roughening. Rcvcgetation of these two area will consist of broadcast <br /> application of the specified amounts of fertilizer and sccd to these areas, <br /> 6. Revegetation of other areas disturbcd.during performance of this project will be accomplished as per <br /> Task 4,Revegetation(see"Revegetation of Other Arras sub-heading,Page 7). <br /> 7. All terms and conditions of the Invitation and bid,other than as changed by this Amendment,amain <br /> the same. <br />
