Town of Crested Butto
P.O. Box 39
Crested Butte, Colorado 81224
July 10, 2008
-A National Historic District-
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman St, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
RE: Annual Report
M-1981-002
Mountain View Pit
To Whom It May Concern:
Phone: (970) 349-5338
FAX: (970) 349-6626
www.townofcrestedbutte.com
Attached you will find a revised map of the Mountain View Pit reflecting stabilization
work done in 2007 and a check for the annual fee of $323.00. This letter will serve as the
annual report.
Stabilization
Per the request of the Division, high wall stabilization was accomplished in 2007. The
attached map reflects the new contours of the pit area. The area was seeded with native
grass mix however no topsoil was available to cover the site since its cost and availability
proved a problem.
Weed management
The Town continues to actively monitor and practice noxious weed control in the pit
area. J. Barry Custom Weed`Control Company has been hired to monitor and do weed
eradication in the pit and the adjacent area.
Material Export
The Town did export approximately 330 cubic yards of natural pit run material from the
pit in 2007. The material was not sold but utilized to build up sub grade areas on the
Town and State Highway 135 right of way prior to sidewalk construction.
Also attached you will find a change in contact information. The Town has hired a new
Public Works Director, Rodney Due, who will in the future be the Town's contact person
for the gravel pit. I hope this report is satisfactory. If the Division has any further
questions please feel free to contact myself or Mr. Due.
Respectfully,
Robert H. Gillie
Town of Crested Butte
