It is our understanding that you may be the owner of the property
upon which additional reclamation will be accomplished. The a
aty six
acre area to be affected by reclamation activities is located at the mosteast rly
portion of the Hawks Nest Mine site, north of the North Fork of the Gunnison and
south of the old highway. A limited amount of work may be accomplished north
of the old highway, if funds allow. The anticipated Project Area is located
eastern half of Section 11, Township 13 South, Range 90 West, Gunnisonln the
County, Colorado.
b
The reclamation work to be undertaken, which will be accomplished using coal
severance tax funds which have been made available to the Division, will be '
focused on improving the quality, cover and diversity of the vegetative cover at
this area_ Reclamation will be conducted in two stages. The first stage will begin
on or about April 26,2000, and will last for less than one week. Contractors will
haul and stockpile soil and organic materials generated by the Highway 133
Widening Project, It is anticipated that these materials will be stockpiled adjacent
to, and south of, the old highway.
The second stage of the Project will be accomplished in the fall of 2000.
Reclamation construction is tentatively scheduled to begin the second weefk of
October, 2000, and will last approximately two weeks. The soil and organic
materials, along with other soil amendments, will be incorporated into the ground.
Some contouring and drainage control work may also be accomplished. Upon
completion of these activities, revegetation of the area will occur.
a
