RE: Amendment No. 1 to PKA-0-457
Thank you for your interest in the Pre-Bid Meeting. The following clarifications and amendments
should be noted and incorporated into the bid documents:
Item #1. Control of compaction: Compaction quality control will not be traditional moisture/density
testing and results. Quality control will be visual observation by the PROJECT MANAGER to
determine if the specific compaction effort is being expanded.
Item #2. Road removal: The existing road will not be removed, but will instead be left as a terrace
on the existing slope. The uphill road-cut ditch and the crest-of-embankment berm will be removed
and the roadbed out-sloped 2% prior to seeding.
Item U. The thickness of the gravel wearing surface of the new road will be a minimum of 6 inches
thick.
Item #4. Width of roadway: The width of the gravel wearing surface of the road will be twelve (12)
feet for its entire length. Between stations 1+60 and 3+20 the width of the roadway will be 14 feet
to allow for installation of the guardrail.
Item #5. Item #4 on the bid schedule, Erosion Repair, is deleted as a bid item. This work will be
accomplished under Item #5 Equipment Rental.
Item #6. One of the alternate borrow areas discussed during the Pre-Bid Meeting will be selected
for use after discussions with the landowner have taken place.
All terms and conditions of the Invitation and Bid other than as changed by this amendment remain
the same.
Receipt and acceptance of this amendment shall be acknowledged on the bid form.
