STATE OF COLORADO
DIVISION OF MINERALS AND GEOLOGY
Department of Natural Resources A
1313 Sherman St., Room 215 2 All
Denver,Denver,Colorado 80203 \
Phone:(303)866-3567
FAX:(303)832-8106
DEPARTMENT OF
NATURAL
To: John Nelson, Project Manager
RESOURCES
Roy Romer
Governor
From: Bruce Stover
James S.Lochhead
Executive Director
Date: May 30, 1995 Michael B.Long
Division Director
Re: C-81-048 TBM Project Inspection, 5/25/95
Kessler called for an Inspection of the work they had completed during the week of 5/22/95
at TBM. I arrived at the site about 12:30 pm on 5/25/95. It was raining and foggy the whole
way down. The job site was wet, muddy and had standing water in places, but it was clearing
from the south somewhat.
Phil Kessler and I inspected pond at task 6. We had difficulty getting up the access road due
to the wet, muddy conditions. The culvert had been installed under the road, and about 2/3rds
of the dike/dam embankment had been completed on the pond itself (photos taken). It was
still too muddy to gain access for installation of the other culvert for the road ditch diversion.
We also inspected the grading and reclamation of pond 15-P10. The embankment had been
removed and feathering of the reclaimed area was being done in preparation for seeding. Phil
indicated that they did encounter some limited areas of coaly materials, which appeared to be
related to two small coal stringers observed in place on the slopes above the pond to the north.
They covered the outcrop areas of these coal beds with topsoil materials during grading. This
area is ready for seeding (photos taken).
A synopsis of work this week:
Monday 5/22 worked on pond 15 P10, and installed culvert at task 6
Tuesday 5/23 rained most of day...no work.
Wednesday 5/24 rain, drizzle all day, very muddy, no work.
Thursday 5/25 working pond 15-P10, ready for grading and culvert inspection.
Plans for Friday 5/26: weather permitting...finish dike at task 6 and install second culvert.
Next week they hope to do the stream realignment if the weather improves, and the site drys
up somewhat. They requested seed be delivered ASAP so that reveg work on the reclaimed
pond can be concluded.
I left the site at 2:30 PM.
