Long To: Mr. Robert Nondorf Division Director From: Jim McArdle Subject: Trinidad Basin Coal Mine Sediment Pond Emergency Repair On September 1, 1993, a prebid meeting was held on the site. A total of 4 contractors attended the prebid, please see the attached contractor sign-in sheet. On September 3, 1993, the following contractors phoned in their bid. 1. AZCO Construction (Ron Walker-719-372-6872)-$4,385.00 to excavate the embankment failure, install a 12 inch diameter, 16 gauge galvanized corregated steel pipe with an anti seep ring to act as a primary outlet for the pond. The anti seep ring will extend 1 1/2 feet from the outside edge of the CSP ($50.00 extra if a larger anti seep ring is necessary). The embankment must be reconstructed with compaction to be 90 percent. The corregated steel pipe will be paid for separately from above at the rate of $12.00 per lineal foot. This material price includes the anti seep ring. Extra embankment material will be used from on site. 2. Febbraro Construction Company (Joe Febbraro-719-846-7789)- $4,900.00 to excavate the embankment failure, backfill, install the CSP outlet pipe and mobilization. The anti seep ring to be supplied will extend 3 1/2 feet from the side of the 12 inch galvanized Corregated Steel Pipe. The cost of the materials (sufficient 12 inch diameter, 16 gauge galvanized CSP with the anti seep ring as described will be an additional $1,600.00. The fill will be compacted to 90 percent. 3.
