The
proposal is for a new permit to conduct coal mining operations in Colorado. The proposed operation
will mine and ship up to eight million clean tons of coal per year. Most of the coal will be sent through
a coal preparation plant to remove rock and low quality coal from the clean coal stream. A coal mine
waste disposal area will be constructed to permanently store the rock and low quality coal. Clean coal
will be transported from the mine by a proposed rail spur that is not regulated by the DRMS. The,
proposed mining operation would be located approximately 14 miles north of Loma, east of Highway
139.
I am requesting review assistance as follows:
1111 Identification of Interests, Compliance Information, and AVS review (Rules 2.03.4, 2.03.5)
Permit Application Package Section 2.03 - Johanna;
Surface water quality/quantity and sediment and drainage control (Rules 2.04.7, 2.05.6, 4.05.3
through 4.05.7 and 4.05.9), Permit Sections Volume I - 2.04.7, 2.05.6, Volume III Exhibit No.
3, and Volume IV - Joe;
¦ Subsidence Survey, Monitoring and Subsidence Control (Rules 2.05.6(6) and 4.20), Permit
Section Volume I - 2.05.6(6) and Volume III, Exhibit No. 15 - Kent;
¦ Revegetation, Soils, and AVF Determination (Rules 2.04.9, 2.04.10, 2.06.8, 4.15, and 4.24.3),
Permit Sections Volume I - 2.04.9, 2.04.10, 2.06.8, Volume III, Exhibit Numbers 5, 7,12, and
17 - Dan; and
¦ Engineering/Geotechnical including mine facilities, waste disposal area, roads, and stability
analyses (Rules 2.05.3(3),2.05.3(8),4.03,4. 10, and 4.11), Permit Sections Volume I-2.05.3,
Volume II Maps 16-1, 16-2, and 22, Volume M Exhibit 16, and Volume V - Marcia.
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
