MANAGEMENT
'k F 171, -N?
RECEA.
JUN 0 '4008
Division _._.a.uation,
Mining and Safety
A stability analysis of the Hubbard Shaft mud pit was transmitted to DRMS by letter dated
June 3, 2008. Please disregard that stability analysis and certification.
Enclosed is an updated certification and stability analysis of the Hubbard shaft mud pit.
Figure 1 - Typical Profile was revised to show the effective out slope at full pool is
5.OH:1.OV. An allowance has been made for adequate freeboard to contain the run-off from
the 25 year precipitation event. Run-off from the site is summarized as follows:
Site/Drainage Area - acres
Disturbed Area Curve Number
25 Year 24 Hour Precipitation - inches
Run-off - acre-feet
1.6
87
2.1
0.13
The surface area of the pond at full pool, elevation 6412, is 0.16 acres. One foot of free
board yields over 0.13 acre feet of storage. The operational full pool is therefore reduced by
one foot to 6411. During operations the level of water and cuttings in the mud pit will be
maintained at or below elevation 6411. Two or more fence posts will be installed along the
edge of the pond at elevation 6411 to assure the maximum water level is not exceeded.
Please call with any questions.
Sincerely,
J.
