All
review and comment periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act and the Rules and
Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for Coal Mining initiate from this date of filing.
The applicant CAM-Colorado, LLC, proposes to conduct underground coal mining operations on land located
approximately 14 miles North of Loma. The permit area is further described as follows:
The proposed mine facilities would be located east of State Highway 139 near mile marker 12. The Government
Highline Canal is located south of the mine facilities. The proposed mine permit area is located on the U.S.
Geological Survey 7.5 minute Highline Lake, Garvey Canyon, and Howard Canyon Quadrangle maps within the
following sections.
All of Sections 27, 28, 33, and 34, Township 7 South, Range 102 West, Oh P.M.
All of Sections 2 and 3, and portions of Sections 4, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 18, and 19, Township 8 South, Range 102
West, 6`" P.M.
The proposal is for a new permit to conduct coal mining operations in Colorado. The proposed operation will
mine and ship up to eight million clean tons of coal per year. Most of the coal will be sent through a coal
preparation plant to remove rock and tow quality coal from the clean coal stream. A coal mine waste disposal area
will be constructed to permanently store the rock and low quality coal. Clean coal will be transported from' the
mine by a proposed rail spur that is not regulated by the DRMS.
The DRMS requests written verification regarding Federal mining leases and/or federal surface access approval.
CAM-Colorado, LLC has referenced the Federal mining lease(s) and Federal Surface access agreement(s) and
pending Land Lease or Right-of-Ways: Federal Coal Leases C-0125515 and C-0125516 and Right-of-Way
COC6791 in this application as a document upon which they base their legal right to enter. Please verify that the
lease(s) and/or agreement(s) have been issued and that final BLM/federal agency lease/agreement approval has
been granted. If the lease/agreement application is pending, please notify DMG as to the status of the
lease/agreement review and when a decision is anticipated. Verification of Federal leases and/or federal surface
access agreements should be sent to me at the address listed above.
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
