MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: Nn-1981-15
INSPECTION DATE: 05.4141108 INSPECTOR' S INITIALS: I(AP
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was performed as part of the Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety's four-year
monitoring program. Present at the inspection were Kate Pickford, DRMS, and Bill Wilson, San Miguel
County. Weather at the time of the inspection was clear, calm, and approximately 60 degrees.
A sign is posted at the entrance to the site and the boundaries are easily identifiable in the field. The
disturbance at this site consists of a pit covering much of the permitted site. Large stockpiles of material
are contained on the pit floor. Topsoil has been stockpiled and well preserved with vegetation. Mr.
Wilson stated that the west highwall will continue to be mined until the ridge that it is mined into is
completely removed.
In a previous inspection it was noted that the southeast slope was oriented too close to the pit
boundary. Much of this highwall has been backfilled and graded to a 3:1 slope. The activities at the
site are located well away from the remaining boundaries. The ridge that existed between this site and
an adjacent site operated by a different permittee has been removed, resulting in a continuous pit
across both sites.
4. The operation is being conducted within the parameters of the approved permit.
I & E Contact Address Cc: ? CE
? BL
NAME: Mike Horner ? FS
?
