Marr Mine - 2007 Annual Hydrology Report May 2007
6.0 MINE AREA SURFACE WATER
The sediment ponds (Stations 301, 302, 303, 304, 305, and 321) were monitored weekly from
March through June and monthly during the remaining- months through September, 2007.
Discharges were observed from 301, 302, 304, 305 and 321 in March and in April. No visible oil &
grease was observed in the outflows. Station 303 (Pond C) was reclaimed beginning August 14,
2006 so there are no potential discharges after that time. In 2007, all of the ponds filled at least
partially during April and May and retained some water through the summer. Samples were
collected on two occasions during the discharge period and tested for Settleable Solids. The field
and laboratory measurements for the 2005-2007 water years are presented in Table 10, Mine
Area Surface Water Quality Data. The 2005-2007 average pH and flow data for each discharging
station are presented on Figure 6, Mine Area Surface Water Average pH vs. Flow (2005-7). The
recorded measurements and field observations are contained on the field data logs in Appendix A,
2007 Field Data. The analytical data is presented in Appendix D.
Discharges at the mine over the previous 6 years have been very minimal. 2005 and 2007 had the
greatest number of discharge events. There were no discharges at the mine for any pond in water
years 2001, 2002 and 2004. In 2007, there were 3 discharges from each of the 5 ponds including.
Pond B. Surface water sites 300, 306, 322, and 327 were dropped from monitoring as of January
1999 and Station 314 was eliminated from the monitoring program in October 1999. No data was
collected from any of these sites during the 2006 water year.
6371/2007/2007 hydrology rpt Page 14
