Processing Waste <br /> The face of the waste pile at King I showed no evidence of structural instability. The top of the pile <br /> was dry and was gently sloped back, away from the face. The ditch at the back of the pile was in good <br /> condition. <br /> Support Facilities <br /> King I -Fuel tanks in the surface facilities area showed no signs of leaks or spills, and have adequate <br /> spill barriers in place. <br /> King II—Earthwork for the surface facilities area of this new mine began in March 2007. Much of the <br /> surface earthwork(roads, ditches, etc.)has been completed. Structures in the loading and truck loop <br /> areas are under construction. Four portals have been developed. <br /> General Mine Plan Compliance <br /> The operator's representative indicated that a set of entries (5 entries wide) have been developed next <br /> to the mains in Section 6 in the Huntington lease and federal leases COC 606941 and COC-29125. <br /> These entries appear to be within the permit area and the approved affected area, but appear to extend <br /> beyond the area approved for mining as it is shown on the Mine Plan Map, Map King I -005. DRMS is <br /> is researching mine plan compliance in this area. <br /> Revegetation <br /> The operator's representative reported that weeds had been sprayed at King I and II the day before the <br /> inspection. Thistle and other broadleaf weeds appeared stressed from spraying, but Whitetop had not <br /> yet shown an effect. <br /> Air Resource Protection <br /> A water truck was spraying roads during the inspection for dust control. There was no fugitive dust <br /> problem. <br /> Subsidence <br /> There were no signs of subsidence or slope instability in the area on the ridge immediately north of the <br /> four new portals of the King II Mine. <br /> Documents Received During Inspection <br /> The operator provided a revised 2007 Annual Reclamation Report. <br /> 5 <br />
