The
proposed mine area is located on his property at 1810 CR 308, Durango, CO, SW 1/4,
Section 19, T 34 N, R 8 W, N.M.P.M. The property consists of 85.03 acres and the
affected acreage is less than two acre.
The purpose of the mining activity and permit application is as a result of the BP gas well
expansion on the existing well pad located in the NE corner of the subject property. The
expansion created a large amount of material that needed to be utilized elsewhere on the
property or removed. This material has already been excavated. Palmer Pipe and
Construction used a portion of the material to construct the approved subdivision
roadways. The leftover material is to be crushed and removed by being sold to others.
The scope of the project is finite. Once the existing pile has been removed there will be
no additional activity and the permit will cease. There will be no additional mining or
crushing and there will be no large gravel trucks continuing to use the county roads.
The proposed date of commencement for removal of material was May 2008 when BP was
to begin operations to excavate additional pad area. BP is responsible for all excavation
and reclamation of the site. The proposed date of commencement for crushing the gravel
