Cattany
Division Director
Natural R urce Trustee
The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety is conducting the review process for the above referenced 110
permit application. After a site inspection and a review of the application there are only a few minor clarifications
and issues to address.
1) Per Rule 6.5(2), please provide an engineering stability analyses for the proposed final reclaimed slopes of
1.2H:1 V. The analysis will need to demonstrate the final slopes have a safety factor of 1.5.
2) The proposed bench on the final reclaimed slopes is stated to be 4-6 feet wide. Please revise the
reclamation plan and all required exhibits to include a bench no less than 10 feet wide. The wider bench
will provide greater stability and will function better as a rock fall catch and safety feature..
3) Please describe the methods and specifications that will be used to reclaim/construct the bench proposed for
the reclaimed slopes.
This is a preliminary review. Other issues may arise from other agency comments and as more information is
supplied. The decision date for this application has been set for June 27, 2008 provided all issues have been
addressed. If the requested information is not submitted by June 20, 2008, the applicant should request an
extension of the decision date.
If you need additional information, please contact me at the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, Grand
Junction Field Office, 101 S. 3rd St., Suite 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, telephone no. 970.623.5596.
Sincerely,
Travis Marshall
Environmental Protection Specialist
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
