(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-I980=952
INSPECTION DATE: June A. ')QW INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: nR7
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted by David Bird and Tony Waldron of DRMS to attempt to determine whether
standing water observed in the pit a month prior was exposed ground water or merely surface runoff. The
operator was not contacted prior to the inspection. The pit is located approximately 1'/2 miles north of the town
of Jefferson alongside County Road 35.
At the time of the inspection, the pit contained a significant volume of standing water, as shown on the
attached photos. According to data published online by the National Atmospheric and Oceanic
Administration at:
http://raws.wrh.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/roman/meso_base.cgi?stn=KSHC2&time=GMT,
there had been no measurable precipitation at nearby Kenosha Pass for the preceding eight days, and only
approximately'/, inch of precipitation in the preceding three weeks. Therefore, due to the small amounts of
precipitation at the site over the past several weeks, together with the fact that only minor amounts of snow
remain at the site, the Division has concluded that the water must be exposed ground water.
The Division therefore believes that a violation exists at the site under Rule 3.1.6, and will be sending appropriate
notice to the operator under separate cover.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Jim Lynn
OPERATOR: Park County Road and Bridge
STREET: P_0_ Box 147
CITY/STATE/ZIP: Fnirplny CO 80440
cc: r CE
F BL
F FS
F HW
F HMWMD (CH)
F SE
F WQCD (CH)
F OTHER
