F, 0fi2-M-S
12-2-(-o7
Initial operations began in July 2007 with survey of boundaries and
installation of perimeter marking devices. Staff also met to plan the
implementation of the SWMP prior to any mining activities. A contractor
was engaged in October 2007 to install the erosion control features which
included construction of ditches to a sedimentation pond, erosion fencing
and culverts prior to any mining. Once these features were installed and the
area ready for mining, shaping of steep slopes began. The SWMP works
properly.
10-10-07 Initial inspection of Site:
A site visit was made by me to determine if the SWMP was installed
properly. All features were in place in the area of activity on the western
side of the project. Erosion fencing was installed along the perimeter,
drainage ways were constructed directing potential Stormwater to the
sedimentation pond. The mining area and all ditches to the pond were dry.
The SWMP appeared to be installed correctly and was working properly.
12-24-07 Second site inspection:
A site visit was made to find the site in virtually the same conditions as the
initial site visit. The only change was a reduction in overburden on the steep
embankments of the operation prior to permitted activities. All erosion
fencing and ditches were in place and dry. There was no sediment
accumulation in the pond. The SWMP appears to be working properly.
