COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH <br /> Water Quality Control Division <br /> 4210 East llth Avenue <br /> Denver, Colorado 80220 <br /> RATIONALE <br /> AMENDMENT NO. 3 <br /> MID-CONTINENT RESOURCES, INC. <br /> PERMIT NUMBER CO-0000396 <br /> PITKIN COUNTY <br /> By letter of July 22, 1985, the permittee has informed us that the Bath House <br /> Pond (outfall 009) receives wastewater from the bath house, in addition to <br /> surface runoff. This bath water has never been addressed to date, although it <br /> has discharged into the pond since 1978 or 1979. No discharge from the pond <br /> to Dutch Creek has yet occurred, the water evaporates and exfiltrates. <br /> The pond's capacity is 1.01 million gallons. This is three times the volume <br /> of the 10-year, 24-hour precipitation event. <br /> • Shower water is the only source of wastewater from the bath house. No toilet <br /> : or other sanitary waste is discharged to the pond. Average daily flow to the <br /> pond is 0.0075 MGD. The maximum daily flow is 0.01 IUD. Most flow occurs at <br /> shift changes, three times per day, 7 days per week. <br /> The permit is being modified to add appropriate effluent limitations and other <br /> requirements to address the bath house water ("gray water") flow. <br /> Additionally, the permittee, by letter of July 26, 1985, has requested that <br /> outfall 007 be inactivated. The pond is in series with the Bath House Pond <br /> and does not discharge to state waters. This permit action will include the <br /> deactivation of outfall 007. <br /> • <br /> II <br />
