• -20-
The samples from the alluvial wells show the groundwater in the alluvium to
vary from a low Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) of 3240 mg/l to 7110 mg/l . TDS
for the Upper Sandstone Facies varied from a low of 420 mg/l at 310136-2p to a
high of 1790 mg/l . The range in TDS for the Siltstone and Coal Facies varies
from a low of 325 mg/l at 310135-4m to a high of 5748 mg/1 at the Staley House
well . The range in TDS in the Lower Sandstone Facies varies from a low of 810
mg/l TDS at Well 310135-4L' to a high of 2100 mg/l TDS at well 21012-7 TW-L.
The results of the groundwater analysis indicates that the quality of the
water in the alluvium is poorer than that in the three facies zones.
Ground Water Monitoring Program
The ongoing monitoring program being conducted by Western Fuels involves
sampling the following bedrock and alluvial wells within the permit area:
Well No. Monitored Stratum Monitoring Frequency*
Qal -2 Red Wash Outwash Monthly
Qal -5 Scullion Gulch Outwash is
21012-7u Upper Sandstone Facies Quarterly
21012-7m Siltstone and Coal "
21012-7L Lower Sandstone "
21012-7tw-u Upper Sandstone "
21012-7tw-L Lower Sandstone "
21012-17u Upper Sandstone "
21012-17m —_ Siltstone and Coal "
21012-17L Lower Sandstone "
21012-17tw-m Siltstone and Coal "
21014-20u Upper Sandstone "
21014-20L Lower Sandstone "
310135-4u - Upper Sandstone Facies Quarterly
i310135-4m Siltstone and Coal "
310135-4L Lower Sandstone "
310136-2u Upper Sandstone Facies
I
