etc. It is understood that oily wastes will not be placed in the pit. The trash pit will be backfilled when it is no longer
needed.
The drillhole will be approximately 1,100 feet in depth and have a nominal diameter of 6.25 inches. The hole will be
drilled with air, water, foam, or mist, or any combination of these circulation media. Any excess water from drilling or
• minor ground water inflows will be passed through the mud pits before being discharged from the site. After the hole is
completed, it will be logged and then grouted from the bottom to within three feet of the surface. Apiece of rebar will
be placed in the top of three feet of the grout to act as a permanent marker, and the remainder of the hole will be
backfilled with soil. The required abandonment report will be submitted within 60 days to the Division.
TCC proposes to install an additional subsidence test site above the 3rd Southwest Panel to evaluate the possible effects
of surface subsidence from longwall mining on the base of a lattice-type electric transmission tower (MR95-125). The
site will consist of four buried concrete pilings, 18 inches in diameter, by 15 to 20 feet deep. Each piling will have a
survey marker placed in the top in order to measure any settlement caused by surface subsidence.
The site will be accessed by an existing road, except for a short segment from the road to the site. The drill rig will take
the shortest route between the road and the site. The holes will be drilled by auger, following topsoil salvage and
stockpiling. Cuttings from the holes will be raked back from the holes and scattered over the site. [n mid-1996, at the
conclusion of the study, the site will be excavated to allow removal of the upper portion of the pilings, the site will be
backfilled, regraded, retopsoiled, and seeded with the appropriate seed mixture.
The reclamation bonding calculations for this activity are included in Appendix A, Volume IA of the permit.
Twentymile Coal Company (TCC) does not plan to conduct underground mining operations within the Fish Creek
Tipple permit area.
EASTERN MINING DISTRICT
Addition of the Eastern Mining District added approximately 7,690 acres to the permit area, of which
approximately 2,600 affected surface acres are associated with the Eastern Mining District. The additional acreage
• was added to square up the permit area and accommodate future panels to the north of the Eastern Mining District.
The schedule for mining the Eastern Mining District and the remainder of the districts within the permit area is
provided on Map 23, Mine Plan. The existing portals will be used to gain access to the Eastern Mining District. It
is anticipated that the previously approved eastern portal will be fully developed to facilitate mining in this district.
Presently, only one of the two entries has been broken out to the surface. The second entry will be developed and
broken through when it is needed.
During the five-year permit term (1993 - 1998), mining will continue in the Southwest Mining District and extend
into Gateroads SR to IOR, the associated sub-main, the North Mains, and longwall Panels 9 Right through 7 Right.
The remaining five-year blocks are shown on Map 23. The surface ownership for the Eastern and first North
Mining Districts is shown on Map 1, Surface Ownership. The reader is referred to this map for location of the
parcels overlying the mine workings owned by various companies, individuals, or governmental entities.
The gateroads are comprised of three entries, typically driven on 100-foot centers, although the location of the entry
may vary depending upon ground control requirements as reflected in pillar widths between the entries. Including
the three 20-foot wide entries and 35 to 155 foot wide pillars, the gateroads will be approximately 230 feet in width.
Cross-cuts are developed on both 100 and 200 foot centers along the length of the entry, except in the vicinity of
the start and stop rooms where the cross-cut spacing is reduced. The sub-mains will have up to six entries driven
on 100 foot centers. As stated previously, the sub-mains driven off the north main may have up to seven entries,
plus a sump. Once the sub-mains are driven to the southeast, up to six entries will be established. The longwall
panels will have an 850-foot face and witl vary in length from approximately 10,000 feet to
•
TR06-52 2.05-16 05/23/06
