§2.05 APPLICATION FOR PERMIT FOR SURFACE OR UNDERGROUND MINING
ACTIVITIES -MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR OPERATION AND
RECLAMATION PLANS.
2.05.4 Reclamation Plan.
(2)(a) (Cont'd)
with lease stipulations of the Bureau of Land Management and in
compliance with all applicable State and Federal laws and regulations.
Where private surface is involved, reclamation will be performed to the
reasonable satisfaction of the surface owners. For specifications for
Final Abandonment Construction, see the Final Abandonment Appendix
in Volume 6A.
Approximately 3,000 cubic yards of sandstone rock will be hauled from
the Bowie No. 2 Mine's Hubbard Creek Shaft project to the East NGne
during November and December 2007. The Bowie No. 2 mine needs a
permanent disposal site for the rock. The East Mine reclamation project
will work the rock into the fills by putting the rock up against the
highwalls and covering the rock with compacted outslope fill. Most of
the rock will be placed at the portal level and some maybe placed at the
crushing and screening level. The small volume of rock added to the
fills will riot make a perceptible difference in the final contours. Based
on the Operators knowledge of geology in the area, sandstone is non-
toxic and non acid forming.
The reclamation schedule is located in Volume 6A underthe Final
Abandonment Tab. The reclamation cost estimate is located in Volume
6A under the Reclamation Costs Tab.
The reclamation plan for the West Mine is like that for the East mine. It
was divided in two distinct phases. The first phase was interim
reclamation of the disturbed area. The second phase was final
reclamation and abandonment.
Interim Reclamation Program
After site development for the West Mine area, interim reclamation
began. The outslopes of the fill embankment were covered with topsoil
and vegetated. The vegetation effort consisted of seed placement,
hrydromulching, and erosion control matting. These measures reduced
the erosion potential and thereby ensured the stability of the fill
embankment and perimeter drainage.
The fill embankment consisted of approximately 3.2 acres. Topsoil was
handled according to the approved plan set forth in the permit. The
areas were vegetated utilizing the approved seed mixtures, as described
in Section 2.05.4(2)(e).
•
M R-119 58 11 /07
~ f'PRovE~
1~~~~a "7
