52,05 APPLICATION FOR PERHIT FOR SURFACE OR UNDERGROUND MINING ACTIVITIES --
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR OPERATION AND RECLAMATION PLANS.
2,05.4 Reclamation Plan.
(1) No answer required.
(2) (a) The reclamation plan for [he Orchard Valley Mine can be
divided chronologically into four distinct phases: (I)
Reclamation of road cut and fill areas and bench cut
and fill areas, (II) Reclamation of water diversion
ditch, sedimentation dams and refuse disposal area;
(III) Reclamation of water line, and (IV) Final recla-
mation and abandonment.
I. Reclamation of Road Cut and Fill Areas and Bench Cut
and Fill Areas.
Reclamation was started on the cuts, fill and bench
.~ areas in the Fall of 1975 following construction. Tie
reclamation Maps 9A-2A through D show the various areas
which have been reclaimed.
II. Reclamation of k'ater Diversion Ditches, Sediment
Retention Ponds and haste Disposal Area.
The water diversion ditches and sediment retention
\ ponds have been installed; topsoil was removed and used
. in the revegetation process in the Fall of 1979.
The sediment retention pond and associated road distur-
bance areas consist of approximately two acres. The
sediment ponds themselves and [he disturhed area around
them comprise approximately one acre of total distur-
bance. llnimproved roads leading to the sediment ponds
will remain in place until aSandonmen[ and are current-
ly used for maintenance of [he ponds. The road bed as
well as cuts and fills have been revegetated [o reduce
erosion. Future travel over the roads will be minimal
so revegetation efforts will not be destroyed.
The diversion ditch disturbance consists of approxi-
mately 4.0 acres. As stated in Section 2.05. 3(3)(b),
[he low flow channel of the ditch was riprapped, The
remainder of the ditch (except that part which tran-
sects rock outcrops) was then revegetated.
Reclamation of the waste disposal site has been initi-
ated and will be an ongoing eEfnrt throughout the life
of the mine. The old waste disposal site near Ponds 1
au.l 2 leas been reclaimed. Topsoil was redistributed
during August, 1982, and the area fertilized and seed
distributed during November, 1983. Vegetating had be-
come established the following spring.
Revised 09/09/86
56
