Chapter V <br /> The operator will carry out a program at the portal bench areas to clean up and dispose <br /> of,non-coal waste materials, demolish and remove or repair structures damaged by the; <br /> elements, and consolidate equipment and materials for which future use is anticipated. , <br /> Work was done at Mines #1 and #2 in 1991. The schedule for completion of work at <br /> the other portal benches is as follows: <br /> #4 Mine 1993 <br /> #5 Mine 1994 <br /> #3 Mine 1995 <br /> Portal benches are required for use in the mining operation, as follows: <br /> Mines#1 and #2 Portal Benches <br /> Ventilation fans and escapeways, roof support system. <br /> Mine #3 <br /> Operations planning anticipates extraction of coal from#3 mine, which is not accessed <br /> by the rock tunnel. <br /> • Mine#4 <br /> Operations planning anticipates a program for degassification of the coal ahead of <br /> mining. The #4 portal bench is required as a staging area, and the road from #4 Mine; <br /> across Huntsman Ridge is required for access to the land above the underground <br /> workings. <br /> Mine #5 <br /> May be required for access to an unmined block of coal in the M-bed seam. <br /> e. Solid Waste Disposal Area. <br /> Non-coal waste is disposed in the approved trash disposal area, which is situated near <br /> the Rock Tunnel yard, adjoining the permanent tunnel fill. <br /> The trash disposal area situated at Mine#1 is no longer in use. The landfill has beer: <br /> covered with two feet of non-combustible rock material from the tunnel fill area. <br /> Additional soil material obtained during maintenance of the roads from clean-out of <br /> ditches and catchment basins, excavation of culverts and the like, will be placed on the <br /> Mine #1 trash pile and used as a growth medium. The area will be seeded and <br /> mulched with a seed mix approved by the Division. <br /> • The final configuration of the pile is indicated below.
