DATA COLLECTION - METHODS AND SOURCES
As noted , Mid-Continent has conferred with the Office
of Surface Mining, the Colorado Division of Mined Land
Reclamation and the Colorado Division of Wildlife concerning
a fish and wildlife description.
The principal source of information in the permit area
is the applicant ' s observation and record keeping during 24
years of operation .
The U. S . Forest Service evaluation of "Past and Present
Condition of Range and Wildlife Resources in Coal Basin" is
• a significant source of information .
The Thompson Creek Land Use Plan of the United States
Forest Service, which was prepared in accordance with the
National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 , the Multiple Use
Sustained Yield Act of 1960 and other applicable federal
regulations , is a source of information for the Coal Basin
and surrounding region .
A wildlife flyover study by the State Division of
Wildlife has provided information for the regional elk
count .
A study by the Roaring Fork Chapter of the National
Audubon Society and the U . S . Forest Service is a principal
source of information on birds .
