• A study by the Colorado Department of
Health, done in 1978 , indicated that the Crystal River
exhibited excellent water quality except for a few elevated
heavy metals concentrations at stations at the BRB Campground
and the bridge above the fish hatchery . Benthic samples
from the Crystal River indicate excellent water quality .
( 2) . Common species
Fish commonly found throughout the White
River National Forest, including the Crystal Creek drainage,
are brook trout and rainbow trout, according to a Colorado
Department of Health Aquatic Biology Report (See Appendix
III-I-4) .
