Dense stands of Engelmann <br /> Spruce and Subalpine Fir generally occur on more mesic sites <br /> than Spruce/Fir Parkland . <br /> Tunnel area . Vegetative community types are pre- <br /> dominantly Aspen Shrubland , Spruce Fir Forest , Riparian <br /> Woodland . <br /> Aspen Shrubland is a somewhat more open aspen <br /> canopy (48 percent cover) and fairly dense shrub layer (15 <br /> percent cover) and has somewhat different dominant forbs . <br /> Spruce Fir Forest is discussed above . <br /> Riparian Woodland is dominated by mixed stands of <br /> Narrowleaf Cottonwood , Quaking Aspen and Blue Spruce . This <br /> unit has a tall understory, with variable composition . A <br /> low shrub understory is common in places . <br /> • Wash Plant Area . The vegetative community types <br /> are predominantly Spruce Fir Forest, Aspen Shrubland, <br /> Ponderosa Pine Woodland , Aspen Woodland and Riparian Wood- <br /> land . <br /> Spruce Fir Forest is discussed above . <br /> Aspen Shrubland is discussed above . <br /> Ponderosa Pine Woodland is mixed montane woodland , <br /> and includes Ponderosa Pine and Douglas-fir , with scattered <br /> Rocky Mountain Juniper .
