General statement <br /> The coal deposits mined by �_id-Continent ' s - <br /> Coal Basin operations occur in the Mesay.erde formation. <br /> dating . from the Cretaceous period of the Mesozoic era . Two <br /> seams are mined , the "B" bed and the ",fiddle" bed . Two <br /> other coal seams in the 114asaverde formation have also beer- <br /> evaluated and are considered uneconomic to mine utilizing <br /> current mining methods . They are the "A" and "Plac:ita" <br /> beds . <br /> Mid-Continent operates a complex of give <br /> mines in the two developed seams or beds . dines No . 1 , 3) , 4 <br /> and 5 are in the B bed and nine No . 2 _s in the fiddle bed . <br /> The B bed is lower . It, lies approximately 450 ' beneath the <br /> diddle bed . <br /> b .
