(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-2008-018
INSPECTION DATE: 5-5-08
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS GRM
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted as part of the normal program established by the Colorado Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety for permit applications. The proposed Lazy Triangle Ranch Pit is located in far northern Moffat
County. Due to scheduling conflicts no applicant representative was present for the inspection.
The remnants of the required public notice appeared to be posted at the proposed entrance to the site just of County
Road 4. The proposed access road takes off due west from the existing road that comes off the road. Currently the
road is a two tract road that fades into the vegetation. The permit holder will need to submit a map with the road
surveyed in from the centerline. This can be done after the application decision but must be submitted prior to road
construction completion. The inspector used the back road past the main ranch to access the primary permit area.
The proposed pit area is along the northern edge of a low mesa. Historic ranch excavations and dumps dot the
surface along the entire proposed mining area. The inspector notes that there will need to be an agreement between
the permit holder and the ranch that no future dumping of any kind will be permitted until the site is reclaimed and
released. The permit holder will also need to either remove the existing refuse or have the landowner do it as part of
the initial start up phase.
No utilities are noted within the general surrounding area. The submitted maps depict the area very well. No
permanent man made structures other than the fence line along the southern boundary were noted.
The mesa is relatively flat on the top with the northern slope at 2 to 2:5 naturally. Vegetation is primarily native
grasses with sage brush on the slopes. No noxious weeds where noted, however it is early in the growing season.
No other issues or problems are noted.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Russ Means at the Division of Reclamation, Mining and
Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone no.
970-241-1117.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Denise Gonzales
OPERATOR: Hard Rock Paving
STREET: P.O.
