SURFACE DRAINAGE OF THE PREPARATION PLANT AREA
• General Description. The Company's Preparation Plant Area is
located on Coal Creek about four miles upstream from its confluence
with the Crystal River as shown on Figure 1.
i
The Preparation Plant receives coal from the mines; removes rock,
- dirt and other impurities; and prepares the coal for shipment.
Spoil piles- are created as a result of this activity. Temporary
storage of some of the coal product is also accomplished in the
immediate vicinity. Disturbed areas in the vicinity of the
Preparation Plant are the spoils piles, areas for future spoils
piles, coal storage, parking lots and roads as shown on Plate II.
Federal, state and local laws and regulations apply to the drainage,
Iflood provisions, and water quality control features of those areas
having a tendency to be eroded by heavy runoff. The water used in
. the Preparation Plant is in a closed system and the only water dis-
charged from the system is in vapor form. No process waters from
the Preparation Plant are discharged into any stream, surface pond,
reservoir, or ground water aquifer.
9
it - -
