Mr. Gary Isaac
May 5, 2008
Page 5
areas of alluvium and the letter from Mr. Dan Mathews of our Grand Junction Filed Office
regarding our informal alluvial valley floor opinion should be incorporated into Exhibit 14
of the permit application package.
9. Surface disturbance associated with ventilation shafts was not identified in the application.
Please update the application to include all disturbances associated with vent shafts
including the required road construction to access the shaft sites.
10. The application did not contain plans for methane degasification if needed. Please update the
application with a discussion of methane degasification. If appropriate, the application
should be updated with plans for methane de-gas wells.
11. It would be helpful to have a single map showing all of the surface disturbed area in addition to
the detailed maps already submitted (15-1 through 15-9). Please update the application with a
surface disturbed area map at an appropriate scale (1"=1000').
In accordance with Rule 2.07.3(1), you have the opportunity to amend, review, or otherwise make your
application complete based on the items 1-5 listed above. However, the Division would like to again
suggest that CAM-Colorado delay the application submittal until after the Draft EIS has been issued
and until after any plan modifications based on the Draft EIS have been incorporated into the
application. The Division's main concern continues to be that an earlier submittal may include plans
subject to change, given the preliminary stage of the EIS process. This may cause unnecessary delays
in our permit review. Therefore, the Division respectfully requests that resubmittal of the application
be delayed until the Draft EIS (incorporating agency comments) has been issued and CAM-Colorado
has incorporated the findings of the Draft EIS into the application.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,
1 ~~i~~~~ ~a~-~
Michael P.
