•
- Wadge Coal. Two wells are used to monitor the water quality of this
seam. Well 17 is located just west of NPDES 002. It displays an
increasing TDS trend. Well 19 is located in the southwest part of the
permit area. It displays an overall stable TDS trend.
- Wolf Creek Overburden/Wadge Underburden. Three wells are used to
monitor this stratum. Well 7 is located below the Wolf Creek pit. It
historically displayed an increasing TDS trend (SF 0.5), although
recently it has stabilized. Well 8P1 is located below a reclaimed
portion of the Wadge pit in the southwest corner of the permit area.
The TDS values for this well have stabilized. Well 11 is located just
west of the PeaCoCo Pond, below a reclaimed portion of the Wadge pit.
It displays a decreasing TDS trend.
- Trout Creek Sandstone. Well 5 is used as the potable water supply for
the Seneca II Mine. It displays a stable TDS trend (SF 0.5) •
- Spoils. Two wells monitor the spoils above NPDES 002. Well 26, the
upper well, displayed an increasing TDS trend until 1990/1991, but have
decreased since then. Well 27, the lower well, displays an overall
increasing TDS trend, however, TDS values peaked in 1998.
Well 61 is located in the southwest portion of the permit area. It
displays a decreasing TDS trend. Well 62 is located above NPDES 004.
It displays an increasing TDS trend.
Comparison of Ground Water Quality to Water Use Standards. SCC has
compiled a list of ground water standards for agricultural uses (Table
5) This list is composed of Colorado Department of Public Health and
Environment ground water standards (CDPHE, Reg. 41, November 2004).
Table 6 provides a comparison of ground water quality data this year to
agricultural standards. This Paradox database generated table does not
include the units of concentration (mg/1 or ug/1) for each parameter. ~~
The units used for each parameter are the same as those listed on the
6
