Memorandum in Response to Notice of Determination of Designation Mining Operation (DMO); DRMS File Numbers <br />M-1977-416, M-1978-039 HR, M-1977-285, M-1980-055 HR, M-1981-021 and M-1977-032. <br />• CDPHE Air Permit for the Sunday Mines, inspection and reporting <br />requirements. <br />• The EPA's NESHAPs monitoring and reporting requirements for radon <br />emissions from mine ventilation systems. <br />• Monitoring and reporting requirements for the Mine Safety and Health <br />Administration (MSHA) to ensure protection of worker health and safety at <br />the Mine sites. <br />• San Miguel County's approval of any Septic Systems in use at the Mine sites. <br />• San Miguel County's Special Use Permit requirements. <br />• San Miguel County's Road Use Permit requirements. <br />• BLM Plan of Operations and NEPA decision records and findings of no <br />significant impact (when finalized). This would include wildlife, cultural, <br />paleontological assessments of potential impacts, mitigation requirements and <br />best management practices used to ensure that the mine operations are <br />protective of human health and the environment and that mine- activities do <br />not cause unnecessary or undue degradation of federal lands. <br />• Monitoring and reporting requirements for the Department of Homeland <br />Security for explosives used in mining operations (potentially confidential <br />information). <br />• State Engineers Office underground water use monitoring requirements. <br />Section 6.4.20 (4) -Denison will provide other pel-lnits and licenses identified above <br />in Section 6.4.20 (3). <br />Section 6.4.20 (5) --Denison' does not use chemicals in processing at the mine sites; <br />therefore an evaluation of designated chemicals will not be provided. <br />Section 6.4.20 (6) -Denison will provide reclamation procedures for waste rock piles <br />based on the' findings of the AMID and MWMP testing and meetings with the <br />Division if additional protection than what is currently provided in existing permit <br />documents is required. If the data,analysis leads to a requirement for new <br />construction at the mine: sites, then a QA/QC plan will be prepared for this new <br />construction.. <br />Section 6.4.20 (7) -Denison will provide a facility evaluation based on site specific <br />conditions obtainedin Phase 1. This will include information from the site specific <br />drainage reports for the engineered surface water protection measures. <br />Section 6.4.20 (8) -Denison will provide groundwater information as discussed above <br />in the hydrogeologic reporting obtained in Phase 1. <br />Section 6.4.20 (9) - If appropriate and available, Denison will provide groundwater <br />data based on the information obtained in Phase 1. <br />Section 6.4.20 (11) -Annual rainfall at all of the mines is minimal, and surface water <br />sampling would be difficult to obtain. However, if possible, surface water samples <br />will be collected from mine permit boundary discharge points. <br />7 <br />
