Chapter II
For this permit submittal, and in future communications, the operator will refer to the
four phases, as follows:
Phase 1 was approved as a Permint Revision in September, 1984.
Phase 11 was approved as a Technical Revision in July, 1986.
Phase 111 was approved as Phase I of a Technical Revision in
September, 1987.
Phase N (Phase 11 of the 1987 TR) has not been permitted.
The Sutey facility expansion is as follows:
- Phase I: The planned capacity of the pile in Phase I
was approximately 875,000 cu. yds. of refuse. The
total disturbed area of this phase is 15.8 acres. The
pile has nearly reached the Phase I capacity at the
time of permit submittal.
Two sediment ponds were designed and
constructed to handle Phases I and II.
- Phase 11: Expands the pile to handle a total of
1,700,000 cu. yds. The additional disturbed area is
e~ 14 acres.
- Phase III: Expands the Sutey refuse disposal area
an additional 11.1 acres, increasing pile capacity to
approximately 7,800,000 cu. yds.
It is anticipated this will provide sufficient capacity
for 7 to 10 years of waste.
The refuse conveyor will be extended an additional
1,150' north of the existing, Phase I pile, with an
additional 5.3 acres of disturbed area.
A third sediment pond will be constructed for Phase
III.
- Phase N: The next phase, which has not yet been
permitted, will provide substantial additional
capacity, sufficient for many years to come.
An additional sediment pond will be constructed for
Phase IV.
39
